The Club!

Never say never! April 11th we joined the mini-van club!
After the whole family went grocery shopping to our new favorite store, Hy-Vee…..we struggled to find room for ourselves and the groceries……I knew it was time!
Nathan claims he will never drive it…..However, I must say, that aside from the fact that it’s a minivan, I do love it!

Easter 2015

Easter weekend didn't turn out exactly as planned.....but then again, how much of life actually does?!
We made several preparations for Easter dinner, including a Bunny Cake. When I went to the next room to get Kylie, the boys literally started to devour the cake, sans utensils and plates. Seriously. Where did they learn this from?!
Grandma Linda, Grandma Pam and Aunt Laurie started out traveling from South Dakota to Illinois, but had to turn around due to sickness:( After telling Evan and Jaden all week about who was coming Friday, it was kind of a shock for them when I told them they were not coming. So, what else to do, but drown our sorrows in cake! At that point, I just grabbed the forks.
Saturday we had an Easter Egg Hunt with Tucker. The boys had so much fun running around picking up eggs, but I think they had more fun walking in the house, dumping their baskets, and opening up every egg.

We had a fun weekend keeping the boys busy and making memories.

Keeping the weekend low-key allowed us to not stress about the details, but focus on the real reason for Easter. He is risen. He is risen indeed. As we heard in church today, the stone was rolled away not for Jesus to get out, but for us to get in and believe.

 Happy Easter from The Schumacher's!!

A weekend with Aunt Rachel and 2nd Cousins!

Aunt Rachel came for a quick weekend visit to meet Kylie and play with Evan and Jaden. The boys had lots of fun reading books, winning at air hockey, and playing at the museum with Rachel.

Aunt Rachel was the 'Baby Whisperer' with Miss Kylie!
They were twins on Saturday in pink stripes!

We had a play date with some of Evan, Jaden, and Kylie's 2nd cousins! These boys had so much fun playing together! I heard the whole recap of playtime on the drive home from Evan and Jaden :)
Kylie got lots of love and attention. Thanks, Ben!
Sunday pictures! Or at least an attempt:)

Life as we know it!!

Kylie's 1 Month Old!

Time really does go too fast!! I can't believe Kylie is 1 month old already.
One of the best stories from this month involves the 'creativity' of the boys....specifically Jaden.  On one of our many ventures to the park, the boys decided to collect pinecones.  It became a relay race- running to and from the trees - great exercise!
We had to take the pinecones home (battle not worth fighting), where they played intently with them for a while - putting them into shapes, using them as balls in the basketball hoop, etc. Then Evan needed to go inside to the bathroom, so I took him. In no more than 90 seconds, Jaden had managed to stuff 11 pine cones into the furnace's return air PVC pipe - you know, the pipe that is 'S' shaped and impossible to get things into......or out of!! It took 2 service trucks of brainpower, a wire cutter, and a broomstick to get the pinecones out. On the bright side, as Grandpa Al said, at least no one was hurt!
Although I have awesome co-workers in Turner Hall - I currently have the best officemate! Snuggles with Kylie make responding to my bloated in-box a manageable task!
The boys are very into their slippers, so they love when Kylie wears her pink little slippers.

Some 'Firsts' for Kylie

First ride in a car seat......on the way home from the hospital.

First bottle. The boys had practiced with their dolls, but were not extremely interested in patiently waiting for Kylie to drink her whole bottle!
First hair bow......just for Aunt Laurie:)
 First selfie! Because, why not?!
First time shoe-shopping. A girl cannot have enough shoes!
 First Bath! No tears.
First trip to church, where she slept the whole time.  And first Sunday alone as a Family of Five......here is 'naptime.' It was a success. Evan quietly put together a puzzle, Jaden slept, and Kylie was entertained in the swing.

First stroll down Constitution Trail!

First trip to Target with her brothers. We all survived!
First time at Day Care. I 'traded' Kylie for Evan and Jaden. The boys and I went to a Dr. Seuss story hour at the library. They had a great time complete with Thing 1 and Thing 2 hair-dos!
First walk to the park.....Kylie is in my front carrier. She loved it, and at 7.5 pounds, it was just the right workout for me!
 First St. Patrick's Day!
