To Infinity and Beyond!

It’s those places in my house that I never remember exist because, well frankly, I would never fit in them, and I would never think the boys would find them……..or would they?!!
I was working on my laptop at the kitchen table and right at my feet, the boys were creating their own jungle gym. That’s right. They found my secret hiding spot for tablecloths and place mats. After pulling the nicely folded items all out, they quickly learned that the flip down door could be a ramp to get them to the center of the table base. Evan was the daring one to lead this mission.

After we took down our Christmas tree, we used parts of the hexagon gate to block off those not-so-baby-proofed areas of the house. While making dinner in the kitchen, I looked over and found there had been a breech in security……..Jaden had successfully gotten himself on the other side of the gate. Reminded me of when a calf somehow was the other side of the fence than the rest of the herd. How can they get themselves to the side they aren’t supposed to be, but then never can get themselves back?
(Yes, the blinds were originally blocked as well.....)
Where’s Jaden?

Today was the first day these boys got up into the papasan chair by themselves (and back down!). They played in and around the chair for about ½ an hour (that’s a long time in EJ Time).

Snow!

Today was one of those days that I wish I had my blue fleece snuggy with me in my office. I never warmed up after walking from my car to my office in the morning, and I even wore my un-matchy scarf for part of the day. It’s on frigid brown winter days like this that I at least wish there was pretty white snow on the ground.
With the freezing temps today, even Evan and Jaden don’t want to go outside. However, over Christmas break, they did get to play in the snow for the first time. Aunt Laurie gave them cute snow boots – watching Jaden try to walk in them and keep his balance was pretty entertaining! Here are some pictures from their first adventures in the snow. (Last week all of this snow melted, and now we are left with just cold brown grass. Spring will come soon, right?!)

Evan- trying to make a crawling snow angel??

And yes, they both had to taste the snow.

Evan tested the temperature of the snow. (This was probably the first and last time I've tried mittens on these boys!)

Grandma Pam helped Jaden walk in his boots. We are going to have to train inside wearing the boots before the next snowfall!

Oh, I can't imagine the snowball fights the boys will have in the future. I wonder how many will be initiated by Nathan?!!

Grandpa Al helped the boys make their first snowman which they loved to look at through the window.

Christmastime Photos

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2013 from Evan and Jaden. We were very lucky to have our families visit us the past couple weeks. Here are some photos of Evan and Jaden's fun times.

Aunt Rachel, Uncle Kyle and Grandma Linda with us on Christmas Eve

The best part of presents---the bows!! Jaden enjoyed taking all the bows off everyone's gifts.

Evan: Who needs all these pretty wrapped gifts when there are diaper boxes lying around.

Grandma Linda helping with fussy time with a little M-I-C-K-E-Y Mouse show!

Aunt Rachel helping Jaden read his new books.

I am not too sure about the truth of your shirt, Jaden..........Evan, yes, I think so!! :)

Christmas Eve the boys were a bit wound up......so we 'ran 'em'! Jaden loves running around saying "go-go-go-go-go!"

Grandpa Al, Grandma Pam and Aunt Laurie celebrated New Years weekend with us! (And were perfect babysitters on New Year's Eve! Thanks!)

Yup. Evan found a new recliner.

Grandma Pam's cure for fussy time: Holiday Goats
The boys loved this and typically danced with the music and clapped for more at the end.

Aunt Laurie helping Evan with his Christmastime flip-tab book.

And the train parade continued from Thanksgiving with Grandpa Al. A little change up: more double riding, and Jaden decided to try surfing on the train.....while being pulled.......

The boys enjoyed the day today diving in and out of their new car filled with balls.
Aunt Laurie helped Jaden keep the balls inside..........and Jaden helped Evan keep his static-y hair under control.

Hard to believe this photo was just a year ago today............now off we go to 2013!
