Schumacher Family Photos

Family photo time with Grandma Linda!

You can only imagine the number of fruit snacks that were used as bribery for these pictures; and the number of wine glasses that followed! ;)

5 Month Pics!

Kylie's 5 Month Photos!
Kylie is just learning to pivot while pushing up on her hands. She smiles easily and is ticklish. The boys love to make her laugh. She likes riding in the car seat/stroller on walks and being in the front carrier. She is starting to really enjoy the pool while kicking and splashing water all over.

Annual Trip to SD for Kampeska Run

Because Laurie and I never can remember that the 13.1 miles around Lake Kampeska is in fact hilly, we drove back to South Dakota the end of July for the half marathon in Watertown. As Evan would say, 'Agaaaiin?'
The Sioux Falls Zoo on a very hot July day!
 Sprinkler time with Cousin Elliot!
Race Day! The kids were well cared for by Grandma and Grandpa and Great-Aunt Bont!
The boys had so much fun playing on their obstacle course at the farm! Over and over again.

Jaden got a little wet with the hose.....and then took a ride on the 4-wheeler!
Kylie loved all of the attention. She just started pushing up and rotating around, but not really going anywhere yet.

We went to church Saturday night at Joy Ranch, across the road from the black angus cows. The boys had lots of fun dancing but they weren't too sure about these root beer floats. I think they will love Grandparents Camp here in a couple years!
Sunday morning at Grandma Linda's!
Now that Kylie is moving around, I better add a pack-n-play to my packing list for next time!

A 'Normal' July

We didn't go on a big vacation this summer, but we did have fun during our summer-long staycation in Normal!

Cornbelter's Baseball game with Tucker. Finally, they are not scared of mascots.

Cuteness. So fun to watch the boys and Kylie interact now that she is smiling, giggling, and oh, yea, taking their toys!

Our picnic lunch at Miller Park. We had to keep Kylie on the table so the flock of geese didn't get her! It didn't help when the boys started feeding the geese grapes!
The water table, sprinkler, and car washing (or sidewalk washing) never get old!
After looking on Macaroni Kid for things-to-do with kids in the area, I read there was a free Shakespearean play on the lawn at the beautiful Ewing Manor. My 3-year-olds really didn't dig it; this is what my lap looked like.
Reading books is always a great past-time. My boys LOVE these National Geographic books. Evan can sit for hours- literally- while Jaden naps, Evan pages through his dinosaur book. Great find Aunt Laurie! They just got an early birthday present - the planet and the animal books which they are learning to 'share' with Kylie.
This girl really can nap anywhere. While I bathed the boys after pool time--she just fell asleep on the floor waiting for her turn! Then it happened again while playing. Clearly she doesn't get this from me.

And then there is actual bedtime...... :)

Peoria Zoo!

We didn't have dogs or cats in the house growing up. The only pets I had were hamsters and a rabbit, and to be honest, I was always scared of the cows. So needless to say, I am not a huge 'animal person.' The thought of getting a family zoo pass never really crossed my mind until family members asked for gift ideas for the boys' birthday, and I needed to come up with something that would not fill the toy room! If anyone is considering a zoo pass--I would highly recommend it! We have used it countless time at our zoo....but an added benefit is you get into hundreds of zoos across the US for free or reduced rates.
Although it's less than an hour away, we had not previously been to the Peoria Zoo. I was pleasantly surprised with all of their exhibits, and the boys were very excited for the animals, especially the giraffes.

The pass into the zoo, also gets you into the botanical garden.

Once we learned it was National Ice Cream Day,
we knew we had to celebrate!
